Samuel(file image), who claimed his name was Deborah was on Thursday arraigned before a Makurdi Chief Magistrate’s court.

Charged with criminal deception, the police prosecutor, Mr. Omaye Ujata, said his ugly act was brought to the notice of the police by one Vivian Enger.

Ujata said Enger owns a beer parlour at Buruku Local Government Area of Benue. He said Enger was deceived by the accused to employ him as a sales girl after he posed as a woman with the name Deborah.

“Following series of complaints by customers, it was discovered later that the accused is a man. He was arrested and, during police investigation, confessed to the crime,” the prosecutor told the court.

Ujata said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue State.

The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Mohammed, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one reasonable surety in like sum, and adjourned the case to May 11 for further mention.
