Man arrested for raping undergraduate he met through social media

A father of two has been arrested in Lagos after he raped a cousin to her female Facebook friend and robbed her.

The suspect, Oluwole Falaseye, 30, concealed his identity and bore Nipheme Ajanaku on Facebook.

His stock-in-trade was posing as an Abuja-based bank manager on Facebook. He would lure his female friends to a hotel in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State where he would sedate them, rape them and rob them of their valuables, report said.

But nemesis caught up with Falaseye after he invited a female Facebook friend simply identified as Mercy for a his fake birthday celebration at Opera Hotel, at Rasaq Junction, Festac Town, last Friday

A student of Polymer Engineering at Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Mercy was unable to make it and sent her cousin, Tinuke, an undergraduate of Public Administration at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, to represent her.

“He first offered me beer, which i refused since i don’t take it. He later came back with a drink claiming it was non-alcoholic and that is all i remembered.

“I woke up to discover he has raped me, and fled with my Samsung Galaxy S6 and another small phones, my necklace, ATM card and my wristwatch,” the victim told newsmen.
