Man arrested for stealing Evans’ trailers


A man is facing prosecution for stealing three trailers recovered by the police from suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans.

The accused, Mashudu Rabiu, is a driver by profession and aged 27. On Monday he was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court.

During the proceeding the court heard from the police prosecutor, Inspector Raphael Donny that the defendant in collusion with others still at large, stole the trailers valued at N10.5m on December 10, 2018, around 3am in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.

The trailers were recovered by the police from the suspected kidnap kingpin, who is facing prosecution for multiple kidnaps and murders.

According to Donny, the offence contravenes sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges while the presiding magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsemi, admitted him to bail in the sum of N2m with two responsible sureties in like sum.

She went on to adjourn the case till March 23 for hearing.
