Former President Goodluck Jonathan, and his wife Patience, have been pictured celebrating the victory of the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Chief David Lyon, in Saturday’s Bayelsa governorship election with chieftains of the ruling party including Jigawa State Governor, Mohammad Badaru, and ex-Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matter, Senator Ita Enang.
Badaru, who doubles as Chairman, APC committee for the election and Enang led a team of the party chieftains on a visit to the residence of the former first family on Saturday evening ostensibly to convey the party’s appreciation to the Jonathans over their roles in Chief Lyon’s victory.
Despite being Peoples Democratic Party chieftains, rumour was rife that the couple worked underground for the APC candidate after they fell out with Gov. Seriake Dickson.
Chief Lyon dusted off PDP’s candidate Senator Duoye Diri with 352,557 to 143,172 votes.
