Why I left PDP – Akpabio


Senator Godswill Akpabio has blamed his defection to the All Progressive Congress, APC, to alleged unfair system in his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The ex-Akwa Ibom State governor alleged this on Tuesday while addressing newsmen after he arrived the state to rousing reception from thousands of his supporters, including two serving commissioners in Governor Udom Emmanuel’s cabinet, Mr. Victor Antai, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Mr. Ibanga Akpabio, Commissioner for Labour and Productivity.

Ohers are: House of Representatives member representing Abak Federal Constituency, Emmanuel Ekon and his Ikot Ekpene counterpart, Emmanuel Akpan, the chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr. Raphael Isobara and a lawmaker in the state Assembly for Essien Udim state constituency, Hon Nse Ntuen.

Ahead of his official defection on Thursday, Akpabio, has announced his resignation of his position as the Senate Minority Leader. He made this known in Uyo on Tuesday.
