LASTMA VAN CRUSHES BUS CONDUCTOR TO DEATH AFTER DRIVER VIOLATED TRAFFIC RULES

A bus conductor has paid the ultimate price for his driver’s sin after being crushed to death by a vehicle belonging to officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, which was used to chase his driver accused of violating traffic rules.

The incident happened yesterday at Cele Bus Stop, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. Eyewitnesses said that the 44-year-old bus conductor identified as Ikechukwu Abasirim (pictured) was pushed to the ground and kicked by a LASTMA official before another official who drove the agency’s vehicle crushed the father-of-four to death.

It was gathered that the driver of the bus Ikechukwu was the conductor violated traffic laws around Mile 2 and escaped arrest after he was ordered to pull up by the traffic management officials.

It was said that officials of LASTMA chased him to Cele Bus Stop where he was caught. A fight ensued between the conductor, driver and the officials that led to the death of the former.

According to sources: “He fell and at that moment, the LASTMA official at the wheel was said to have moved the vehicle. The tyres went over Ikechukwu’s skull, killing him on the spot.”
