Dubre(file image) appeared to have disappeared after he was detained by the Nigerian police for questioning sometime in February 2017.

Unconfirmed sources claimed that the businessman has been secretly involved in gay practices with men.

A source familiar with the case alleged that he was discovered cavorting with one of his male friend – names withheld. The friend’s wife was said to have discovered them in the act and lodged a complaint with the police leading to his arrest and questioning and subsequent release on bail.

A police source, who confided in our correspondent on condition of anonymity stated that the businessman claimed he was “set up” and fingered his best friend’s wife adding that the motive was “to humiliate him.”

The police source, a senior officer at the Area 2 Police Command Lagos refused to give details of the said arrest but disclosed that the matter was reported to the police by a female complainant who stated that he was married to Dubre’s friend.

According to police source Dubre has not been charged yet but the allegations are under investigation.

The source also said all efforts to locate him have proved fruitless. He stated that Dubre may be on the run as his friends and family could not account for his whereabouts adding that if he is charged with an offence of homosexuality he may be declared wanted if he fails to show up voluntarily.

The police source also stated that “Dubre denied being gay when questioned by the police. He said the allegation by his friend’s wife was intended to humiliate him,” police source further stated.

Mr. Dubre risks a 14 year jail term without an option of fine should he face prosecution and be found guilty of the charge.
