The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Folorunso Folarin Coker, is a man that has become synonymous with poise and panache.
His position as the number one man in Lagos when it comes to Tourism, Arts and Culture isn’t a coincidence as Coker is known to have had a strong hold on the Nigerian tourism sector with a special bias for Lagos.
Since his days as one of the indispensable aides of Lagos State governor emeritus, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to his days as one of the power wielding aides of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Folly Coker, as he’s widely referred to, has become one of the big players in the hospitality world in the metropolis.
He kicked off with a mini bar known as Brown’s Café on Victoria Island many years back after which he launched La Casa, a premium night club that spoils the rich, mighty and famous in Nigeria.
Inside sources disclosed that the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Lagos Central Business District expended over N150m in putting finishing touches to the state of art outfit that caters for fun of top, rich and famous politicians and business tycoons.
Nested along the unspoiled Atlantic Ocean on Island of Ilashe , in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, sources said the La Casa night club(pictured first right) is situated on an expanse of land that is valued at N80m while the structure and equipment which houses the night club were valued at over N90m (the equipment were touted to have been imported by Coker).
It was further alleged that the La Casa night club also boasts of a swimming pool amidst other facilities that make it distinctly unique.
Meanwhile, the La Casa night club is said to be a private club which is strictly and frequently patronized by only the top government officials, politicians, a handful of entertainers and top Nigerian footballers.
Investigations conducted by OrijoReporters shows that Coker has his hands in several hospitality businesses-majorly bars and restaurants- and these include the Browns Café on Oduduwa Crescent, Ikeja GRA, Browns Café on Victoria Island and defunct La Casa, which used to be on Ozumba Mbadiwe street, Victoria Island.
It would be recalled that Coker, who used to be married to Tiffany Amber’s boss, Folake Coker, was fingered as the major shareholder and owner of popular music group, Mavins Records but he denied owning the record company or any of its business.
Amongst the commissioner’s investment and interest are his choice boats moored in lekki area of Lagos(pictured second right).
Sources alleged that the commissioner’s boat, which is known as Black Widow, is one of a kind that set him back with almost N30m. It was further alleged that the choice boat that is famous amongst the close associates of the commissioner is a Formula 310 FX5 choice speed boat valued at $250, 000.
However, inside sources said that Folorunsho Coker’s luxurious business venture is not keen on paying tax.
Recently Abdullahi Bala Muhammed, son of the immediate past Federal Capital Territory minister, Senator Bala Muhammed, who is into car racing, and is the president of Corsa Motorsports Club, Abuja, was enmeshed in a scandal after he allegedly shortchanged the Nigeria Customs Service in the import duty he paid on his exotic vehicle, a McClaren 650s coupe valued at $3m (about N850m).
It was discovered that the 25-year-old paid N300,000 as tax for the luxury car instead of N124m .
