Kingsley Unekwe, a candidate, who sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, has been arrested for forging his result with the view to study medicine.
Kingsley exaggerated his scores, changing it from 201 to 269 with the aid of some fraudsters, according to the Joint Admission Matriculation Board Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede while speaking to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.
Oloyede said the fraudsters help the suspect to produce a fake UTME result slip reading 269 after which he presented the result to deceive his parents who wanted him to study Medicine.
Subsequently, the candidate approached JAMB seeking the exam body to upgrade his score on their portal, a move which culminated in his arrest by the police.
Speaking while Kingsley was being paraded, the JAMB Registrar said, You (Unekwe) are the fifth person. Two of the other candidates are already being prosecuted because we showed them clearly that they forged their results to deceive their parents who are desperate, like your parents are, to study medicine.”
