In a statement signed by Mr. Emma Powerful, the Media and Publicity Officer of the separatist movement, the group alleged that the government had perfected plans to kill Kanu on his way to his next court appearance.

The statement reads in part, “The plot by FG, DSS and three Governors from the Southeastern States to eliminate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra on his way to next court date.

“The meeting where the plot was perfected had top notches of All Progressives Congress, APC, three Governors from the South East and some Senators from the same zone and some well known enemies of the actualisation of Biafra project.

“The plan was perfected in the meeting, and designed to be carried out by a killer squad, who will open fire on the vehicle as he is being taken to court.”
