Senate President Bukola Saraki has hinted of his support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for September, 22, 2018.
Saraki, a prominent figure in R-APC, a splinter group of the All Progressive Congress has been coy about his political future with rumour flying that he is on his way to join PDP which he left in the run up to 2015 general election after falling out with APC leadership and President Muhammadu Buhari.
A fence mending is currently ongoing in APC to avert him and others including Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal and ex-gov Rabiu Kkwankwaso from decamping.
However, if to go by the Senate President’s remark at the fourth convocation and conferment of honorary doctorates on some prominent persons by the Adeleke University, Ede, in Osun, at the weekend, Saraki in a veiled comment dropped the hint about his support for the governorship candidate of PDP instead of that of his party, APC candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, a blood relative of ex-Lagos governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I congratulate him apart from being a member of the PDP, don’t forget . He ( Adeleke) is a colleague of mine in the Senate. I am happy to see that he’s done very well. It means that he is popular and well accepted. It is good to see that our member of the Senate is well accepted. I wish him all the best in the election ahead,” he told newsmen.
