Undergraduate jailed for stealing 2 phones in Redeemed church

Innocent Onyeoziri, the 20-year-old undergraduate,, who stole phones in one of the parishes of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Lagos, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment without option of fine by an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat handed down the judgement to Onyeoziri, who resides at Adaranito Street, Famous Bus Stop, Alapere in Ketu on Wednesday.

The convict had pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court heard from the Prosecutor Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie that Onyeoziri stole two phones worth N62,000 and a SIM card at a parish of Redeemed Church at Okunusi Street, Alapere, on Dec. 13, 2016.

The phones, according to the prosecutor belonged to Mr. Oluwasanmi Olukunmi and Mr. A. Agbolade, and they were charging them in the church during a service in the evening when it got missing.

Ihiehie said nemesis caught up with Onyeoziri when he used the SIM Card he stole alongside the phones to borrow airtime to the tune of N30,000.
