IG orders Senator Elisha Abbo’s arrest


The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of Senator Elisha Abbo, who was caught on camera assaulting a nursing mother at a sex shop in Abuja.

The CCTV installed at the sex toy shop filmed Abbo beating up the woman, a friend of the shop owner after trouble erupted when one of the three girls that came along the senator to the shop started vomiting.

The senator from Adamawa took umbrage after the owner of the shop rebuked the girl for vomiting and the nursing mother poked her nose into the matter by trying to beg him.

The video, which went viral, drew the senator backlash with a group of protesters led by activist, Deji Adeyanju, storming the force headquarters in protest where they called for Abbo’s prosecution.

Meanwhile, the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan has set up a seven- Member Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the matter and report back in two weeks at Plenary.

The Committee members include:  Senator Sam Egwu, PDP, Ebonyi North, Senators Oluremi Tinubu, APC, Lagos Central; Matthew Urhoghide, PDP, Edo South; Stella Oduah, PDP, Anambra North; Danladi Sankara, APC,Jigawa North- West; Sani Musa, Niger and Daudu Haliru Jika, Bauchi Central.
