Hearing on case of Jealous married soldier who killed girlfriend stopped

Sunday Umaru who was dismissed from the military for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Charity Thomas, was arraigned on Thursday before a Barkin-Ladi High Court in Plateau.

But the hearing on the case was stalled following the absence of Justice Samson Gang, who was said to be attending a function elsewhere.

Umaru, a Private in the Nigerian Army and on posting at the Special Task Force (STF), sector 7, Barkin Ladi, on Jan. 23, 2016, allegedly stabbed and slaughtered Charity, who visited him from Kaduna, while both were fighting over a phone-call the deceased received from a boyfriend.

Umaru who is charged with culpable homicide was first arraigned on July 14, 2016.
