Headmaster stabs teacher with knife

The Headmaster, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) Staff school, Lagos, Mr. Sunday Ogunmade has reportedly stabbed a teacher in the head with knife.

His alleged violent action, which was reported by The Nation, was said to have disrupted activities in the school on Tuesday.

The report said that the non-payment of February Salary, and the de-harmonisation of teachers in the school had both combined to generate crisis and polarized the institution, and may not be unconnected to the ugly incident.

According to the publication, the de-harmonisation has impoverished the staff owing to the new salary structure that was far less than what the teachers who were initially employed by AOCOED and paid according to the college salary structure prior to the de-harmonisation.

Another reason that may have caused Ogunmade to attack the teacher, according to the report, was that decision to appoint him as the school headmaster by the immediate past administration was not popular among the teachers, who felt he was imposed on them, and were not supportive of him.
