Hausa actress gets life ban for hugging in music video
Motion Picture Practitioner’s Association of Nigeria(MOPPAN), the umbrella body of the Northern Film Practitioners, has handed life ban to top Kannywood actress, Rahma Sadau, over alleged “immoral behaviour”.
Rahma Sadau’s offence was “hugging and cuddling” Hausa rap artiste Buba Barnabas Luka aka ClassiQ in his music video entitled: “I Love You”.
“This is not the first time that she has been doing these wayward things. We have been warning her, but she still went ahead to dent our image,” Chairman, MOPPAN, Muhammadu Kabiru Maikaba, told the BBC Hausa service, adding that the ban was “total”.
Kannywood has been under fire from conservative Muslim clerics who accuse it of corrupting people’s values.
Sadau is said to be on a holiday in India, and has yet to comment on the ban.
It would be recalled that the federal government recently cancelled a N3bn Film Village it planned to build in Kano after the proposed project faced opposition from Muslim clerics in the state on the grounds that it would increase social vices.
