Civil servant remanded in prison for insulting Gombe governor’s mother

A Gombe Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a civil servant with the State Ministry of Higher Education, Abubakar Adamu, in prison, for allegedly insulting Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, and the governor’s mother.

One Inuwa Dattijo, a.k.a. D. J. Maitaya, of the State Agency for Social Services had sued 35-year-old Adamu, alleging that the accused sent him an audio clip containing insults directed at the governor and his mother.

“The accused person was charged with one count of fabricating false evidence, an offence that contravened Section 156 of the Penal Code Law,” the police prosecutor, Inspector Habibu Danjuma, told the court.

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida, after listened to the accused person ordered his remand in prison custody, and adjourned the case till Tuesday, September 26.
