Friends recall lifetime of NYSC member who died of heart failure on April Fools’ Day

As Sokoto State Coordinator of National Youths Service Corps, Musa Abubakar, announced the demise of a corps member, Ochayi Christian Adoba, the deceased friends took to their Facebook pages to recall the moments they shared together.

Adoba, who hailed from Benue and died from heart failure on April 1, was one of the 1,411 corps members deployed to Sokoto State under the 2016 batch “A”, Stream One.

“The late corps member was serving at the Government Secondary School, Tsamaye, Sabon-Birni Local Government in the state. He was resting after a football match between the various batches of the scheme, suddenly he just collapsed and died,” the coordinator said during the passing out parade on Friday.

Recalling the moments they shared together in Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, where the deceased graduated from, a Facebook user, Maxwell Ochayi, wrote: “We all know how we started, the stress of going to lectures on empty stomach, the stress of going to night class trying to get things up there. OChayi christian I know how brave you were. You carry your mate along, you joke and relate with Everyone who came across you. finally YOU MADE it this far now death snatched you from this wicked world mehn is so so so hard to believe you are gone. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND OCHAYI CHRISTIAN ADOBA.”

Another, Chukwuemeka Miracle said of the demise of Adoba, “At last a real Hero is gone. You are always in our heart brother. The grave won’t make us forget your impact on our live. Maths/stat/comp set 2014 UAM heart you big.”
