A new twist has been added to the ongoing trial of Maryam Sanda, widow of Bilyaminu Bello, late nephew of former Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Haliru Bello.
Sanda, daughter of former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu, is facing murder charge for allegedly killing her deceased husband.
She was arraigned on November 24, at an Abuja High Court before Justice Yusuf Halilu.
At her arraignment she was in the court with the couple’s six-month-old baby reading Quran and counting rosary.
Justice Halilu at that sitting adjourned till Thursday, December 7.
But the rearrangement planned for yesterday was stalled following the prosecuting counsel, Mr. James Idachaba’s prayer to the court to adjourn the matter to enable the filling of an amendment based on new facts.
In the amended charge brought by Idachaba, it listed three other people to be arraigned alongside Sanda, including her brother.
The prosecutor told the court of efforts to serve and bring the co-defendants saying their present location could not be ascertained.
His prayer to the court to adjourn the matter to another day was granted by Justice Halilu, who postponed the case to next week’s Thursday and ordered the return of Sanda to Suleja Prison.
