A Federal High Court in Jos on Friday quashed the remaining two counts charge preferred by the Federal Government against a former governor of Gombe State and serving senator, Danjuma Goje, over allegations of corruption, according to Punchng.com.
The report said the decision followed an application made by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation on Thursday evening where it conveyed its resolve to withdraw the charges.
Recall that Goje was being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegation of defrauding Gombe of N5bn while he was the state governor.
The three-time senator was a front runner for the ninth assembly Senate Presidency race but after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari got out of the way of Ahmad Lawan.
Days after he gave up his ambition, the federal government took over his case from the antigraft agency giving raise to suggestion that it was horse-trading.
