Farmer shoots rival to death over woman
A farmer has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly killing his rival who was in a bitter fight with him over a woman they were both dating.
The suspect, Adebisi Akinrinmola, and his victim, Ademola Asimiyu, were said to have fought to the bitter end last Sunday at about 3:00p.m. at Ajebo Village in Ijebu-Igbo area.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, which confirmed the incident, said the suspect shot Asimiyu who had accused him of snatching the woman from him.
Oyeyemi stated that during interrogation the suspect claimed that the deceased had been threatening him over the woman he was dating, adding that trouble started when the deceased met him and the unidentified woman while returning from farm.
The statement read in part, “the suspect claimed that it was the deceased that brought out a machete and made an attempt to strike him with it, prompting him to bring out a dane gun with which he shot him to death.”
