A fake lawyer identified as Olayomi Adegbite has been sentenced to 100 hours community service in magistrate’s courts across Lagos after he was found guilty of impersonation.
The convict had represented a suspected thief arraigned before a magistrate’s court in Ogba.
Adegbite had appeared as counsel to the suspected thief at Court 5 on February 24, during which he applied for his bail when the magistrate, Mrs. Temitope Oladele, observed flaws in his presentation.
And upon interrogation by Magistrate Oladele, it was discovered that Adegbite is not a lawyer.
Reports say he was subsequently arrested and charged with impersonation.
Following Adegbite’s arraignment, and consequently trial he was sentenced to 100 hours of community service across magistrates’ courts in Lagos, except Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry magistrates’ courts.
The magistrate added that the 34-year-old should place placards with inscriptions, ‘I am a fake lawyer,’ on his front and back while cleaning the courts.
