The officers, who were attached to X -Squad of the Lagos State Police Command and were on patrol were five in number.  They were, Corporal Idowu Inspectors Olusegun Ajiboye, Donatus Nwaego, Sergeant, Umoru Blessing  and Ibitola Egbeola, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who led the team.

But while all others died when the unmarked 911 lorry veered off its lane and rammed into them when they were about to make u-turn at Agbowa, ASP Egbeola survived unhurt.

Narrating how it all happened, Egbeola said, “It happened so sudden while we were about to make a U-turn at Agbowa. We just saw the lorry veered off from its lane and faced us. There was nothing we could do because there was a ditch on our right, and the next thing i heard was a bang and everything just went blank. I regained consciousness inside an ambulance where i saw Corporal Idowu beside me.”

Meanwhile, friends of Sergeant Umoru Blessing on Facebook have taken to her wall to pay tributes to the Edo-born cop.
