Former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, has been sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment as he was found guilty of misappropriating N1.16bn belonging to the state.

Justice Adebukola Banjoko of an Abuja High Court. handed down the judgment on Tuesday to Dariye, who is currently a senator, representing Plateau Central having found him culpable of 15 of the 23 counts preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
About two weeks ago, Banjoko, meted out similar punishment to ex-Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, convicting him of similar charges.
In the Tuesday’s judgment, which took the judge about six hours to read, she ruled that Dariye’s sentence would run concurrently, implying that the convict would spend 14 years behind bar.
