The Chairman, Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria, ESVABORN, Mr. Olayinka Sonaike, has died of apparent heart attack on Tuesday in Abuja.
Late Sonaike about eight months ago became the chairman of ESVABORN, an organisation that regulates the activities of surveyors.
The 74-year-old’s death occurred at the headquarters of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, where he had gone to deliver a paper at a one-day colloquium of business management organisations, organised by the ant-graft agency.
Witness said the deceased was one of the resource persons at the event scheduled for 9.00am but started late. It was said that he got to the venue on time but when it was his turn to speak around 1pm the unthinkable happened.
“He was made the chairman of the session because of his early arrival and was on the podium flipping through his papers preparing to read it when he slumped and was unconscious,” witness narrated.
His sudden fall to the ground was said to have thrown people into confusion with some rushing to his aid and trying to revive him.
It was further gathered that he was confirmed dead at Limi Hospital near ICPC where he was rushed to.
