The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has hit out at Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, over the killing of scores from the southern part of the state who are predominantly Christians.
According multiple reports, 63 people had been killed in the last one week by suspected Fulani militia in Jema’a and Kaura of the area, nine of whom were said to have been murdered on Saturday.
Speaking in an interview with Punchng.com, the Coordinating Chairman of CAN in Southern Kaduna, Rev Fr John Cheitnum, took a swipe at el-Rufai, accusing him of having no regards for the lives of Christians and would not mind people of the faith being killed.
Cheitnum told the paper, “If one Muslim is killed today, el-Rufai will be the first to announce it on TV, but if 50 Christians are killed, he would tell you there is no problem and that they are on top of the situation. The governor does not value Christians living in Southern Kaduna. There are a handful of Muslims in Southern Kaduna and he has regard for their lives because if you touch one of them, the governor himself will do something.”
