A comic situation played out in the crisis in Ekiti State over the planned impeachment of the state governor, Ayodele Fayose by the 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, on Friday after protesters against the plot waylaid a bus occupied by mourners and coffin, and insisted on seeing the corpse inside the coffin.

The protesters had blocked all the major roads in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital and paralyzed all business activities.

Their action was to prevent the embattled speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon. Adewale Omirin and the other 18 lawmakers of the All Progressive Congress from gaining access to the state after Thursday’s ruling of an Abuja Federal High Court, which refused Gov. Fayose’s application to stop the 19 APC lawmakers from impeaching him.

The 19 APC lawmakers have been operating from Osun State.

But the drama of the coffin occurred at Ajilosun road where Gov. Fayose’s supporters barricaded the road, and were stopping and searching motorists, looking out for the 19 APC lawmakers.

Not few of the protesters cast curious looks the way of a bus occupied by mourners with coffin inside it. Thinking the lawmakers might be pulling a fast one on them by posing as mourners with Hon. Omirin inside the coffin, they insisted on seeing the corpse before letting the mourners go.
