About 12 directors and top staff members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly been suspended.

According to multiple reports, the affected directors’ suspension was not unconnected to the ongoing investigation of the anti-graft agency embattled czar, Ibrahim Magu, who earlier suffered a similar fate.

The development is said to have triggered panic in the commission with some of the suspended directors expressing disbelief, claiming they played no part in Magu’s administration and ought to be spared.

Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation communicated their suspension notice to the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Umar, on Tuesday night.
