University Lecturer slumps to death on Campus

A cloud of grief hung over Osun State University ( UNIOSUN), Osogbo, following the sudden death of Head of the Civil Engineering Department (HOD) Dr. Moses Adebowale Ogunbiyi, on Thursday morning on the campus.

According to sources, there was no sign that death was lurking around the campus when activities in the institution commenced on Thursday as workers and students went about their business betraying no emotion.

However, at around 11.00am events suddenly took an awkward turn following the death of Dr. Ogunbiyi, who slumped during an election to appoint new executives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities of the university and efforts to revive him were in vain.

He was said to be at the voting point to cast his vote and was not a candidate for any office.

The untoward incident, it was said threw the campus into mourning mood as people were seen in groups discussing the lecturer’s death.

It was also gathered that the deceased was hypertensive and apparently died of heart attack.
