Four persons in his convoy including three policemen and a civilian were however unlucky and were killed by the assailants.
The incident happened at 6.00pm a few kilometres away from Akwanga after Akabe’s convoy ran into the gunmen who were operating.
The deputy governor was said to be on his way to Abuja for an official assignment, according to ASP Usman Samaila, Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command in an interview with newsmen in Lafia.
“As I speak with you now, the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner Operations and other high ranking officers of the command have gone to the scene of the incident,” Samaila said.
