The All Progressive Congress says the Speaker of the House of Representatives, RT. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of the Independent Electoral Commission, Festus Okoye, are buddies, accusing the INEC top shot of taking sides with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the acrimonious governorship and assembly elections in Bauchi State.

The state chapter of APC made this allegation in a statement the party released against the backdrop of INEC’s reversal of itself as regards the election in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, which earlier it rejected the result and listed the community as part of the areas where election was inconclusive and rescheduled.
However, INEC set aside its cancellation of the results saying that continuation of collation of results will take place on Tuesday.
The latest development announced by Okoye may have drawn the commission’s APC’s anger with the party at a press conference in Bauchi, on Saturday, saying that the action taken by the electoral body was null and void and insinuating that Okoye allegedly a close ally of Dogara was giving PDP an undue advantage.
Speaking, APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana, cast a doubt on the neutrality of Okoye led-INEC Committee saying: “The composition of the committee is also questionable as the committee chairman, Festus Okoye, is a close ally of and ex-personal solicitor of Yakubu Dogara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). No justice can be done by the committee chairman who is interested in the whole issue and the instant circumstances.
“This was proved by the fact that PDP has already pre-empted the outcome of the committee’s finding which was widely circulated on Social Media (On Yakubu Dogara’s Facebook page) before formal publication by INEC.”
