Ten people are feared dead on Wednesday after eating out at a wedding in Nadangoro area of Katsina State.
Many others who equally ate and drank at the wedding are presently hospitalized at Federal Medical Centre where they were rushed to after they had running stomach and diarrhea.
Sources at the hospital located at Murtala Muhammad Way said either the food or water served and consumed at the occasion was contaminated and caused food poisoning.
It was also gathered that not a few of those in attendance at the wedding were placed under medical care in different hospitals across the state after falling sick.
The incident it was further gathered may lead to the cancellation and postponement of about two weddings earlier scheduled for the week as some of the victims are either brides or grooms-to-be.
It would be recalled that several weddings take place in Muslim community few days to Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset. This year’s Ramadan will likely start on June 18, 2015.
