A day old baby boy belonging to a deaf and dumb couple, Mrs. Salamatu Kabiru and Mr. Kabiru Abubakar, has been stolen at Yusuf Dantsoho hospital in Tudun-wada, Kaduna State, Daily Trust reports.

The report said the woman, who perpetrated the vile act wore Hijab and pretended as if she was a relative of the new parents before carrying out the dastardly act.
It said the incident happened on Wednesday adding that the perpetrator was in the hospital before the baby was delivered.
“After the delivery of the baby, she picked up the baby in pretense of showing him to other members of the family outside the ward and that was how she disappeared with the baby,” the paper quoted a source in the hospital as saying.
It said the distraught new mother was delivered of the missing baby through cesarean operation.
According to the Kaduna state police spokesperson, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu, “The matron of the hospital and father of the baby reported the incident to our area command on Wednesday at about 11pm. We took their statement and the woman who pretended to be the family’s relation is our principal suspect.”
