Dana Air blames bad weather for flight’s near crash

Bad weather caused the Dana Air aircraft numbered 9J0363, flying from Abuja to Port Harcourt to overshoot the Port Harcourt International Airport runway and almost crash on Tuesday, the management of the airline said.

Recall that the door of a flight belonging to this same airline fell off  exactly two weeks ago, on landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Yesterday, forty-nine passengers onboard the Dana flight escaped death as the it overshot Port Harcourt International Airport runway.

Reacting to the incident, the Dana Air blamed heavy rain accompanied by thunder storm and strong wind for it via a statement the airline released.

It reads, “Our aircraft (9j0363) operating the Abuja -Port Harcourt flight skidded off the runway at the Port Harcourt International Airport, as a result of the bad weather situation and torrential rain at the time of landing.

“We commend the Pilotin- command who was able to control the aircraft to a complete stop, before passengers and crew disembarked. We also wish to applaud the Captain for exhibiting the highest safety standards and handling the situation professionally,
