The ambition of the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, to lead Oyo State in the capacity of a governor that has never been under wraps is on the rocks.
Ten local governments and Local Council Development Authority (LCDAs) in Oke-Ogun area of the state where Shittu hails from have hit out at him blaming him for the crisis rocking the party in the state, and absolving Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of any complicity in the ongoing crisis.
The supports of the Councils’ chiefs, all members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, were necessary for the Communication Minister to emerge the governorship flag bearer of the party.
However, in a statement released on Thursday, the Chairmen accused Shittu of pursuing his ambition dangerously and causing disaffection among party members.
It reads, “We, the chairmen of the 10 local governments in Oke-Ogun, which Alhaji Adebayo Shittu hails from, have watched with bewilderment the unguarded utterances and negative tendencies of the minister in unnecessarily opposing the governor and the progress of the party.
“We would not have joined issues with the minister for his baseless and apparently false claim that the governor has been creating divisions in the APC and destroying the party, but there is need to set the record straight so that the national leadership of the party will know that it is the minister who has been disrupting the peace in the party with his actions and utterances.
