A Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Akure, the Ondo State capital was on Friday thrown into confusion after hoodlums invaded the church, beat the pastor and members of the congregation and carted away the day’s offerings in a deadly church attack.
The church, Pillar of Fire located at LA primary school area came under attack following leadership crisis rocking it. It was gathered that the attack was at the instance of a factional leader of the church, who was contesting the appointment of the new pastor of the church.
Sources said that the presiding pastor, Pastor Isaac Arije (pictured), a Bayero University alumni was flogged by the hoodlums. Members of the congregation including elders were equally not spared.
The police were unable to put the situation under control after one of its officers was stabbed by the hoodlums.
Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident, said some arrests have been made in connection to the attack.
