Chief Kenny Martins
Born January 15, 1956, Chief Kenny Martins is former Nigeria president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s brother in-law. A twin, his late twin sister, Late Mrs. Taiye Obasanjo was married to the one-time military leader turned politician.
A Lagos indigene, he attended Premier Day School, Yaba, Lagos, United Primary School, Aiyetoro, Egbado, Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro, Egbado, both in Ogun State, and Orange Coast College, Orange County, California, USA, where he studied Business Administration.
He began his working career at Premier College Yaba, Lagos where he was sole administrator. Subsequently, he became the Managing Director of Premier Motor Company, and later that of Premier Printing Press between 1982 – 1984.
Later on, he set up his own companies at various times, namely KLM Investments Limited, an Investment and General Purpose Company, Prime Petroleum Limited, a company that operated two filling stations in Lagos under the National Oil Brand, Paflck Marine Company Ltd, a shipping company that evacuated refined products from the Port-Harcourt and Warri Refineries and supplied the products to Lagos on behalf of NNPC, Paflok Tankers Ltd, owners of the first crude oil Tanker to fly Nigeria flag, and was Director of several companies with competence in the Power Sector, Aviation, Housing Development, Publishing and Educational Institutions.
He is equally Chairman/CEO, Greenspring Limited, a general purpose consulting firm that has executed several Public Private Partnership Progress with the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), ASO Savings & Loans PLC and Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
A technocrat in politics, Chief Kenny Martins was Campaign Adviser and Strategist for the MKO Abiola Presidential Election Campaign in 1993. He co-founded defunct National Centre Party of Nigeria (NCPN), and was the party’s National Secretary in 1996.
He was also a co-founder of defunct ALL Peoples Party, APP, in 1998, and later Campaign Adviser and Strategist, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Election Campaign in 1999.
Organiser of several National Mediation Meetings to stabilize the country from 1994 – 1995 under the aegis of National Unity Organization of Nigeria (N.U.O.N) and Committee for Unity and Understanding (CUO), Chief Kenny Martins was the National Co-ordinator, Police Equipment Foundation, which bought and distributed over 1,000 operational vehicles, 56 houses in Abuja, wearing apparels and other gadgets and distributed all to the Nigeria Police and other security services free of charge between 2006 – 2010.
