The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, was in Makurdi, the Benue State capital at the funeral of the seventy-three victims killed by Fulani herdsmen during the New Year but didn’t get the best reaction from the grieving crowds.
Oyegun’s appearance caused a stir when a section of the crowd sighted him, hauling insults at him and calling him and President Muhammadu Buhari names.
A pall of grief hung over the arena as the victims were being buried.
Leaders who spoke at the occasion generally laid into the federal government alleging it of allowing the situation to fester.
” If the Federal Government cannot stop or arrest those behind the killings, in two weeks, we shall raise an army of our own. We cannot allow people to colonise us again. We have all it takes to do that,” ex-minister of iron and steel, Paul Unongo said.
