Burial fixed 4 years after broadcaster, Gawat, got missing
Friends and family of missing Islamic programme presenter on NTA Channel, Lagos, Alhaji Aremu Rasaq Gawat, have fixed July 10, 2016, for his Fidau (meaning prayer for the deceased).
Alhaji Gawat who was very popular with Muslims particularly those residing in Lagos, anchored a phone-in Islamic programme on NTA Channel 10 during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan where gift items were showered on callers.
He went missing under suspicious and controversial circumstances in 2012.
And according to Islamic injunctions when a Muslim is still missing after four years, the family should hold a Fidau prayer for him or her, dead or alive.
It is in the light of the injunction, sources said Alhaji Gawat’s family and friends fixed 10th of July for the missing broadcaster’s Fidau prayer.
The Fidau prayer will take place at Muri International Television ‘MITV’ premises Alausa Ikeja, Lagos. Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello and Sheik Daud Abdul Majeed Eleha (Alfa Nla) are some of the Muslim clerics expected at the occasion that will be used to remember Alhaji Gawat.
Meanwhile, the missing broadcaster’s daughter, Alhaja Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso, an Islamic singer, recently released a threefold album called ‘Ramadan Special’ which consists of ‘Alao Jowujowu’ featuring Suleiman Alao aka Malaika, Temitope and followed by a joint effort which features over 20 Islamic actors and titled ‘Ramadan Kareem.’
The easy-going singer made her name with the release of her first album and since then has performed at several big Islamic functions. Her albums include, ‘Imole,’ ‘My Father’, ‘Arinakore,’ ‘Aye Le’, Iyawo Obun and ‘Agboko L’Ori,’ as well as ‘Ogbe-Okan’.
