Benue declares 3-day of mourning for victims of herdsmen attack

The Benue State Government has announced three days of mourning for victims of the recent attacks by Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Scores of people in Logo and Guma Local Government Areas of the state were killed and several others injured in the vile attack by suspected herdsmen on Monday, New Year’s day, and Thursday.

“The mourning period will be from Tuesday (today) to Thursday this week and ends with a church service for the victims at the IBB Square in Makurdi, followed by mass burial.

“Flags will fly at half-mast within the mourning period while work will close at 1p.m., on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday (tomorrow). Thursday, which is the day for the church service and burial of the victims, will be a work-free day in the state,” Gov. Samuel Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said in a statement on Monday.
