A medical doctor in Bauchi State  infected ten of his family members including his last child, a  9 year old son, with COVID-19.

The doctor whose identity is shrouded in secrecy ostensibly to stave him off potential stigmatization refused to be guided after testing positive for coronavirus.

According to the Chairman, State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPHCDA), Dr. Rilwanu Muhammed, the doctor in question obviously contracted the dreaded virus from patient(s) but rather than stayed in the hospital and allowed his colleagues to handle his case he insisted on treating himself at home, culminating in ten members of his family getting infected.

”The doctor and nine of his family members were recently discharged but the last child, the 9 year son is still in isolation. When the  doctor got infected, instead of allowing other doctors to take care of him , he went home with it.  He ought to have placed himself on a sick role and allow others to treat him, you’re a doctor doesn’t mean you can treat yourself of covid-19, ” Muhammed told newsmen.
