Workplace stress has made a 44-year-old branch manager of a commercial bank(name withheld) to kill himself in Arepo, an Ogun State suburb, police told newsmen yesterday.

Late Habeeb Olatunde (pictured) who was declared missing on June 18 was found dead in an uncompleted building last Saturday.

Police investigation did not suspect foul play. Rather, it discovered that Olatunde hanged himself to death, and the suicide was not unconnected to pressure he was facing in his office.

In a statement signed by Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, police  said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased committed suicide by hanging.

“While investigation was on, it was revealed that the deceased actually complained of stress in the office and was permitted to have a rest. He committed the suicide while he was on casual leave.

“His corpse had been released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites as no mark of violence was seen on the body and no foul play suspected,” the statement explained.
