The modus operandi of the suspects, who were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), was to use fake guns to threaten their victims before dispossessing them of money, phones and other valuables.

“We don’t operate with real guns. We use fake guns made of wood and sellotape. When we point it at victims, they tremble like crayfish.

“Any place we go to rob, we are always careful to make sure the victims don’t discover that our guns were fake, to avoid their lynching us. If I regain my freedom, I will not rob again,” Uba told newsmen.
