OrijoReporter was told that the death of the mother-of-two happened two Sundays ago after that of her baby who was stillborn.
It was gathered that that the marriage between Atayese and his late wife had been on the rock for long. Their marital strife was brought to a head  after Mrs. Atayese acting on a tip-off, traced her singer husband to a hotel and caught him in an uncompromising position with a married female musician, Emiola.
Sources said a melee ensued at the hotel, and the police were invited to wade in and arrest the couple and the mistress.
“The trio were detained at Ajuwon Police Station and when the matter was brought to the knowledge of Emiola’s husband, Ayo, a drummer, he went to the station and right there he said his marriage with the female singer was over,” OrijoReporter was told.
The paper also gleaned from sources that the deceased had on several occasions embarrassed Atayese in public by going to his shows to disrupt it.
“Last year, her husband was performing at Peace Hotel in the area, and in the middle of the show she came from nowhere, took a bottle of beer on a table, smashed it on the floor, and threatened to stab the singer.
“Also, not too long after, Atayese was performing at a bar opposite  Zenith bank branch in Akute, she stormed the event and violently brought it to an abrupt end,” sources said.
It was further gathered months leading up to Mrs. Atayese’s death, the singer had moved out of their matrimonial home, and two Fridays ago when she was rushed to the hospital where she died two days after, her systolic blood pressure was 172.
Curiously, since the untoward incident, the singer had been in detention at the instance of his in-law, who are alleging that he killed his wife.
