They gang freed their victim hours later but handed him a letter for onward delivery to his father.

Punch reports that the victim, simply identified as Jafar went missing while playing with his friends in his parents’ neighbourhood only to resurface few hours later with a letter said to have been written by the abductors.

The paper said the letter is written in Hausa language, and in it, the abductors claimed they released Jafar on compassionate grounds and demanded that government should provide employment for youths in the state.

The incident has been brought to the notice of the police and security operatives are said to be on the trail of the perpetrators who were described as “local boys”.

“We have already got a lead on the hoodlums. They are local boys. We will soon get them,” the publication quoted Spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah as saying.
