A bricklayer, Akinyemi Edgar Koja , who was wanted since last year’s December, for allegedly killing his wife, Ajoke, in Badadry area of Lagos where they lived has been arrested and charged with murder.
Akinyemi was arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday during which he pleaded guilty to the charge saying he killed his wife, a graduate due to alleged adultery.
The accused went on to give a graphic details of how he perpetrated the dastardly act.
He told the court, “I strangled her at night while she was sleeping. She was sleeping around with other men because she felt I am a poor man and she did not hide it. That fateful night, I suffocated her with pillows . When I discovered she was dead, I dumped the body inside a well close to our apartment . I ran away to make it look like I was not around when the incident happened.”
The Magistrate, Bola Folarin Williams, subsequently ordered the accused’s remand in prison custody and adjourned the case to March 28 for hearing.
