Women Affairs Minister, Al-Hassan, has ‘type 2 diabetes’ say sources
Minister for Women Affairs, Aisha Jumai Al-Hassan has type 2 diabetes, it was claimed on Tuesday after she slumped on Monday at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Fufore local government area of Adamawa State while inspecting foodstuff and other items supplied by the Federal Government.
Mama Taraba as she is fondly called apparently concealed her diagnosis from all but close confidants, and kept an upbeat demeanour.
It however came into the open on Monday that the All Progressive Congress, APC Taraba State gubernatorial candidate in 2015 general election was secretly fighting an illness when she walked with a crutch at the IDP camp at Fufore and later slumped.
It was gathered that she was ordered to visit IDPs camps by the presidency over alleged rampant cases of rape and child abuse.
“She has Type 2 diabetes and has been battling it for sometime visiting hospitals even outside the country,” sources told OrijoReporter.
Most symptoms of type 2 diabetes occur when blood sugar levels are abnormally high, and according to World Health Organization (WHO) 90 percent of people around the world who suffer from diabetes suffer from type 2 diabetes.
