Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa has been reportedly detained for assaulting his wife, Jamila, at their luxury home in Leicester City, UK.
Daily Star of UK and several other British media report that the out of favour Leicester City striker was arrested at 1.00am on Wednesday after initial attempt on Tuesday evening to apprehend him failed as he was at the stadium to watch his team and Sunderland Premiership match.
The reports said police swooped on his luxury home at 1am and took the £16.6million footballer to a police station where he was questioned on suspicion of common assault.
Daily Star reports on the day before his arrest, Musa had posted a bizarre message on his Facebook page which attracts thousands of fans.
It said he shared a picture of a donkey, and captioned it: “Tag the first person who comes into your mind when you look at a donkey.’’
“We are aware that Ahmed Musa has today cooperated with a police inquiry relating to a disturbance in the early hours of this morning.
“The inquiry has since been closed and no further action is to be taken.
“We see no reason for formal action internally, though Ahmed will be given the opportunity to discuss the matter with football management when the squad returns,” the paper quoted a spokesman of Leicester City Football Club as saying.
The couple have a four-year-old son, and 20-month-old daughter.
According to unconfirmed reports, Musa has another wife in Nigeria.
