Recall last week, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun resigned as Finance Minister in the wake of allegation of forging NYSC discharge certificate.
Premium Times reports that following its discreet investigation it uncovered that Shittu failed to participate in the NYSC scheme despite graduating from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) at age 25.
It added that even till date, the Communication Minister did not present himself for the national service.
When contacted, the minister, who is aspiring to succeed Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, said his first political post as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly after graduation could suffice as national service, a claim lawyers and NYSC insiders consider as ludicrous and untenable, the popular online medium wrote.
“The constitution provides for the qualification needed for state assembly members, NYSC is not there. I didn’t need it to become a member of the state assembly, and that is already a service,” the publication quoted Shittu as saying.
