Actor Olumide Bakare’s death due to lung disease, heart failure

Nollywood actor Olumide Bakare died of lung disease that was diagnosed years ago and led to heart failure, his family said.

In an unofficial news on his cause of death on April 22, a member of the late actor’s family, who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said Bakare was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension and had successful surgery.

“He responded well to pulmonary arterial hypertension specific agents over many years, during which he acted in some movies but eventually succumbed to intractable right heart failure,” the family source said.

Olumide Bakare’s death at age 64 while he was being conveyed to UCH Ibadan after falling sick in the middle of the night, has caused an outpouring of tributes for the late actors.

The late father of three from two women once revealed in an interview that he smoked marijuana for thirty years but stopped in 1998.
